While you might come across a teacher who seems mean, chances are, that person really cares about you and your education. There might be a very few teachers who are tired of teaching or have personal problems they are dealing with and appear to act mean, but remember they are people like you. They cry. They laugh. They love their families. They pay bills. They get stuck in traffic. They worry about you and the future. But, they really do care. They wouldn't work for as little as they do if they didn't. Be kind to teachers, especially the ones who seem mean. They need all the kindness they can get.
Here is an example of a teacher going the extra mile. Literally.
Carl Schneider, a special education teacher at Whitney Achievement School, in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of six teachers who volunteer to walk students home from the school each day, according to WREG.
Nearly two hundred students take part in the walking program.
“We saw a need and it makes sense. We want to make sure the kids get home safely,” said Chris Hill, a spokesperson for the school district.
Hill said Schneider volunteers for the program because it allows him to bond with the students outside the classroom.
I am Becky Lyn Rickman. I am an old hippie with the belief that most people are good and that the good don't get nearly as much attention as the few that are not so good. I don't believe in labels. I think everyone should be loved for the goodness that is in them, though sometimes it may be hard to find.
