All geniuses are not boring.

Sometimes we meet people who are really, really, really, very, very smart. They know a lot about many things or maybe they know more about one particular thing. We might think they are boring because they don't say much, or when they do, they talk about the things they know. We may think they have a one-track mind or that they are boring. This is not always so.
Here's the thing. Sometimes people, though they are really well-educated or brilliant with knowledge, they might not be comfortable around other people. They feel even more awkward around other people than other people do around them.
How to deal with really, really, really, very, very smart people:
  • 1.  Invite them to a party so they become more comfortable around people and other people feel more comfortable around them.
  • 2.  Tell them a joke. It might take them a minute to laugh, or they might not laugh at all. That doesn't mean they don't get the joke. They might just be uncomfortable laughing in front of others.
  • 3.  Ask them for help with an assignment you don't understand.
  • 4.  Ask them about the things they are passionate about, even if you might not feel particularly interested in those things. This gives them a chance to speak with others and helps them to realize they deserve friends.
  • 5.  Understand that they are sometimes deep in thought and not ignoring you.
Really, really, really, very, very smart people are an important part of or world and are responsible for things like smart phones, flat screen TVs, cures for diseases, discovering water on Mars, and the beautiful pieces of music and art.
This is a video of one of the most brilliant minds in the world. Look at that smile! Listen to that laugh! Albert Einstein said some very funny things and loved a good joke. He was also three years old before he ever spoke a word.

I am Becky Lyn Rickman. I am an old hippie with the belief that most people are good and that the good don't get nearly as much attention as the few that are not so good. I don't believe in labels. I think everyone should be loved for the goodness that is in them, though sometimes it may be hard to  find.
